About Jessica

Hi!  I'm Jessica Taghap -- a sometime cultural critic and longtime creative writer. As a fiction writer and poet, my work thus far has explored questions of connectivity and anonymity in the big city. The last few years, I have been working on an anthology of short stories titled New York Stories. Expanding upon the theme of missed connections, New York Stories serves as a collective ode to New York City, in the form of short stories.

//

At the center of New York Stories is a short story serial over ten years in the making, titled About That Night. A cosmic take on love and missed connections, About That Night centers around two twenty-something strangers, Sam and Jude, who meet at a party in New York. Over the course of a single night, the two share many intimacies. One night many years later, they meet once again, examining what might have been then – and what could be now.

\\

Your generous contributions will go towards possible collaborations with photographers, illustrators and filmmakers (I'd love to make mini-trailers for each story in the collection); as well as any further resources I may need in the course of writing (research, travel, and even, possibly, publishing!).

~
