About David Vernon

G'day!
Welcome to the Stringybark Stories Patreon page.
Stringybark Stories is a small boutique publisher of (mostly) Australian short story anthologies.  We have been in existence since 2010.  If you are a writer, getting a break and being published is very difficult. Most publishers in this world of Youtube and screen-based entertainment are loathe to risk taking on newcomers. We are not. We publish new authors every year via our national and international short story competitions. Winning and highly commended authors are published in our anthologies. We publish both ebooks and paperbacks and soon plan to produce podcasts of our out-of-print books.  We've helped major new writers (such as Graeme Simsion and Rebecca Raisin) get their first breaks in the publishing world and they have gone onto be highly successful authors.

However, this is all done because we love literature and love helping new writers.  Our work is done on a shoe-string and we rely on the good will of our skilled judges to offer their time for free to wade through many hundreds of entries.  By supporting us on Patreon we will be able to expand our services, publish more authors, give more aspiring writers a break and generally cease living hand to mouth.  We've got some great benefits for Patrons and hope you can join us on our journey.
