What started as an experiment on the Q Train in New York City has grown into a movement that has been called "one of the few purely good things on the internet" (Esquire), "wildly popular" (Lit Hub), "refreshing" (The Cut), and the thing that has "changed how we look at books
" (Forbes).

Subway Book Review is where I document a moment in time and create a feeling of togetherness in a city that's famous for reinventing itself and never standing still. I thought that people who are reading in public, and on the subway no less, probably have something important to say. After all, books are an expression of our identities and values. Hundreds of interviews later, I can report that it's true. Readers are the kind of people who can imagine realities aside from the one we are living in. They are thoughtful. They are critical. They are open to changing their mind. In short, they are the kind of people I want to hear from.

Today, Subway Book Review has contributors in Washington D.C., London, Berlin, Milan, Barcelona, Mexico City, Sydney, and Santiago. 225,000 people already follow Subway Book Review on social media. With your help, we can report from more cities and grow our platform to include a book, a podcast, and a video series. Like New York, the world is just one big melting pot and the more we know each other's stories, the more we can appreciate each other. Join the movement and become a patron.

All tiers have access to the Patreon page and the monthly video hangout that's our version of a book club. Instead of discussing one book, we talk about what's on our mind and how what we're reading reflects that. Each month, the skinny is posted here, in case you can't dial in. By being a patron, you'll also be the first to hear about cool events, news, and special offers.

Give what you can and join Subway Book Review's inner circle to make more magic✨

When I reach $800 per month, I can hire an audio editor and will start a special podcast series featuring the best conversations from the underground! This podcast will be available publicly, but the episodes will be released early to my patrons.
