Let's have some fun.

Hi there. I'm Peter Staunton - a traditional Irish musician with a passion for music technology and gadgetry. By introducing elements of pop and dance music to Irish reels and jigs, I aim to bridge the gap between Irish dance music and... dance.

Traditional Irish dance music is frequently performed in sterile venues in front of seated audiences. This seems absurd. Would this same audience sit there and watch a DJ perform?

To find out, I've created a unique middle-ground between a DJ and a céilí band. A whirlwind of pumping electronic beats, banging Irish melodies, lyrics and humour. Rather than drawing attention to a stage with dancers on it, we aim to get the audience dancing and to keep the dance floor full all night. By including a mixture of recognisable pop songs and Irish trad tunes, we get people dancing to Irish trad music in a way they never thought they would. The response to this live show has been astonishing.

As well as regular live performances, I've been producing music tracks over the last number of years. This is where I need your help.

When I created a remix of Teresa Mannion’s stormy weather report in 2015, the internet loved it. The view count was in the millions, and it was featured on the largest news outlets in the world.

I’ve been working on other remixes and original songs in this new genre of Irish Dance Music. Lots of them. I have a massive collection of unfinished tracks - some super-catchy and some downright hilarious. Everything from remixes of advertising jingles to songs about the quirks of Irish society. Having countless unfinished tracks sitting on hard drives isn’t much use to anybody, so I need your help to get them finished.

If you sign up to become a patron for $5 or more, you’re on the team. You'll be an official ‘SuperCéilí Consultant’, or even a 'SuperCéilí VIP'. You can then add this to your business card, your CV or your tattoo.

Every month, I’ll send you an unfinished track to download and analyse. Any ideas, feedback or suggestions will be welcome, and we can discuss them all in the patron-only feed - our own private group where there are no secrets. The feed will be full of audio clips, blog posts, videos and images from me to keep you updated on progress and I think we’re going to come out with some very impressive results together. When you hear them in public in the future, you’ll have all the stories and inside info behind them. Think of the respect you’ll get from your peers if you can say, “Hear that track on the radio? I was a production consultant on that track”.

On my Patreon profile, you can choose your desired level of patronage and take up your position as a 'SuperCéilí Consultant'. You don't need any musical expertise or experience. I'm just looking for your honest feedback about iterations of a track ("this is hilarious but a bit too short", "It's hard to hear the lyrics when the old lady is rapping", and things like that).

I’m really looking forward to working with you and am very excited that people are finally going to hear some of these ideas.

PS. Patreon is like an online tip jar, allowing you to support artists as they create their work. Like the old-school concept of ‘patronage’. Think of it like buying a cup of coffee for an artist, once a month, allowing them to dedicate more time to creative work. You’ll never be charged more than your pledged amount, and you’ll only be charged once a month. Simples.
