We heard you like games.

So we built a game to build games, and are building a game within the game that builds games. We are Survansix, and we are taking the 'retro' of indie games to a whole other level - or actually, many levels. I'm talking about modding, I'm talking about mapping, I'm talking about stinking up your mum's basement while you perfect the last level of your custom-edition Final Fantasy TD for Warcraft 3.

You see, we started out wanting to make Liminality, a deep and powerful story about a boy who wakes up from a dream to find himself stranded on an island of ghosts. It's a game that means a lot to us, and we are very focused on ensuring we take every precaution to get it exactly how we want it. But when you start out on such a big project, first it's important to build scaffolding around the work-site, and ensure you have the proper tools for the job.

May I introduce to you: the Game to Build Games, the Protector of the Realm, the Unburnt, and the Starter of Bandwagons: Aether Edit.

At it's core, Aether Edit is a tool. You are given a blank canvas, some basic terraforming tools, and a paint brush. At it's best, however, Aether Edit is uninhibited creativity. Create a water world and populate it with sparse islands; build a passage-way through a ravine, with thin stone bridges to guide you across your way; or approach the Great Beyond by erecting a spiraling staircase to the heavens. Or y'know, just build something phallic.

But please, don't just take our word for it! Play Aether Edit for free and show us what you make! We routinely hold competitions for the best level too, so be sure to keep an eye on our Twitter for that.

Okay, but why Patreon?
We love building games, but more importantly than that, we love connecting over games. Our company was founded on that very premise, and we are constantly looking for new ways to connect people with cool ideas all over the world. Art and coding are only two of the things needed in this massive cauldron of an artistic medium, and while they are certainly the most sought after, we personally think there should be a lot more focus on people with good ideas. People with a love for good game design. Gamers with a passion for pushing the envelope; for thinking outside the box. We're looking to foster a community of devs, who, like ourselves, just want to get into the nitty gritty of making meaningful games. So we're building tools to help you get into that as fast as possible, as well as documenting our experiences as we do the very same.

So, we reach a hand out to you, my good friend, to say:
"Hey, we know we're just starting out, and sure, we could really use the cash from Patreon, but more than anything, we want to thank you for getting this far down the description, and giving us the chance to meet yet another person who is as passionate as us about expressing themselves through their art, and utilizing games as the perfect medium for that cause."

Well, what do you say? You game?
Tiers
Survansix Monthly
$1 or more per month
For as little as a dollar, you could be the proud owner of a genuine "thank you", whispered quietly in the night, from each of us to you. You will also unlock:
  • Our periodical newsletter, Survansix Monthly! We talk about our experiences coding games, drawing game and concept art, working with musicians, and overall game design.
  • All Patron-only content posts, including devlogs, release updates, and miscellaneous tidbits.
Full Engine Access
$6 or more per month
Unlock all future builds of Aether Edit as we release them. While the first version was free, we are constantly adding more features to the game to be able to use it to build Liminality. At this tier, you will unlock:
  • All new features (note: we will always  still  update the free version with bug-fixes).
  • The Aether Edit game manual, which explains all the controls, goes into depth on advanced features, and talks about some of the tips and tricks we've found when using the tool.
  • Insight into how we work behind-the-scenes to create games!
Turbo Mode
$20 or more per month
To anyone else, 20 bucks might mean a free dinner, or a nice movie out, but we know how valuable a $20 is to a game dev. To us, your pledge tells us that we're working on a vision you share. At this tier, you will unlock:
  • Our Discord channel, where we hop on every day for 4-8 hours to dev.
  • Early access to all games we ever make with Aether Edit and without. Including Lim.
  • Participation in polls, surveys, etc. for design decisions.
  • We're working on the rest... maybe custom NPCs/enemies?

This tier is basically your best way of showing us you want to join us in the van, and help to bring the dream alive.

Includes Discord rewards
Goals
$33 of $100 per month
Wow. 100 buckaroos a month. Up till now, Marcelo and I have been bootstrapping this idea together without any real affirmation from the community. We love what we do and we love doing it, but if we hit 100 bucks a month, we'll be powering away on our projects with the satisfaction that we're working on something people want to see.

At this goal, we'll open up a weekend to chat with our Patrons and get their feedback. Working with our supporters is exactly why we are on Patreon, and so we will be making it our very first move to actively connect with you guys and figure out how best to move forward.
