Welcome to Glass Canal

Who are you?

Hi. My name is Toa Lohe. In 2016, I graduated Stanford University, worked in LA, SF, DC, and then began traveling the world. Over the past two years: I've gone across Russia by train, explored Mongolia on a pony, eaten Indian curry in Mumbai, driven a motorbike across Vietnam, and read a lot of books. Currently, I am working as a freelancer and writing Glass Canal reports.

What is Glass Canal about?

We live in a Golden Age... but it doesn't it feel like it.

We have search engines, social networks and ecommerce websites to help us enjoy the times, but we feel debilitated.

Why is that?

I believe we don't know how to form an independent approach to culture.

For decades, we've relied on others to formulate our views of culture with ideologies, headlines and superficiality.

We need to revise our approach to culture...with the best minds.

On Glass Canal, I will write reports that dive into minds that have shaped culture: politicians, philosophers, propagandists, and economists. In every new report, I will include five lessons for readers to improve their approach to culture.

How often do you post?

There is only so much I can do in one week. And since I'm not really interested in hiring people to write or edit for me, the only variable I have is time. I'm aiming to make 2 materials (reports/podcasts/videos) a month, so 24 materials each year. Patrons will only get charged for the materials they are paying me to make. If I don't make a report or a podcast, you will not be charged.

FREE reports:
  • Lee Kuan Yew (Link)
  • Vladislav Surkov (Link)
  • Regis McKenna (Link)
  • T. E. Lawrence (Link)
  • Aldous Huxley (Link)

*Note: Patreon allows you to customize your pledge. If you want to only pay for one of the two materials a month I make, set a "Monthly Limit" in your pledge. For example, if I make two podcasts and you don't want to get charged $5 twice, set your monthly limit to "1."

How do you make money?

Glass Canal is written, produced, and recorded by me alone, and support for this personal endeavor comes from Patreon pledges

All patrons will receive a FREE ePub copy of The Propagandist in the "Thank you" confirmation page after signing up on Patreon.

Anything else?

Thank you! Glass Canal would not be possible without your help I feel an enormous responsibility to deliver great materials to patrons and I work tirelessly to do so. I want this project to be something special.
