My dream is to paint the world!
I would love to be able to create a business selling my art in such a way that allows me to give back. I am passionate about painting, wild land preservation, and the preservation of natural ecosystems.
I believe life is too short for me to be doing anything other than painting, and sharing my love of paint and nature with the world. My family have been creative makers for generations. Painting was something I first formally studied in high school and was lucky enough to pursue at the University of Idaho. Now I'm taking a business class to help fill in the things the University doesn't teach art kids. Turns out prints are the key to this business model!
That's where you come in, amazing matron/patron!
By signing up today your contribution at the first of each month goes straight into an account for ordering more inventory! This allows me to save money in the long run, repackaging larger print orders into smaller retail sizes. You get one, and I get more to sell, Win win!
Unless it's for little Main Street shops like Copper Creek, (in Joseph, OR,) who buy prints in bulk. Obviously I don't make as much per unit but I love the easy stress-free set up! Not to mention they have all the cutest stuff... Where was I?
Oh yeah, we're building a business! Printing, packaging, shipping, advertising, and quality pictures of my paintings are where most of the budget lives. Much as I would love to paint all day every day it looks like prints are the best way to crush the myth of the 'starving artists' (like Monet did!).
My name is Tracy Kasiah Sword. No, I'm not married, by choice. If you see "Happy Day Paintings", that's me too. Kasiah, a family name on my maternal side, means "Happy Day" and my neuvo impressionism, or whimsical bright paintings, have such a sunny disposition I thought it appropriate.
I hope you like it too!
Who am I?
Artist, oil painter, chocoholic, and adventurer.
Two things I would never want to live without are chocolate and painting. Currently I am midway through a thousand day challenge of painting daily! I started February 1, 2019 when I was just almost 30 years old and should be done a few weeks after my 33rd birthday! Inspired by Nas Daily, I don't post daily, or complete an entire painting daily, but I do try to share some of the fun stuff along the way.
Societal labels I have collected:
Sorority gal - Kappa Delta -ZX *holla*
Graduate- High school & UIdaho BA 2011
Cancer survivor - Cervical 2012, non- hodgkins 2006
Trekker (Annapurna 2013)
World travler (2013)
Riverguide (SR7 2018,’19, '20) That's right, I'm an artist with a side hustle as a river guide.
Why am I on Patreon?
Painting takes time. Passion takes time. Life is time!
I know what I want to do with my short life! Now I'm asking for your help to do it.
The gallery show I have been putting together for some time now is called "Attn to: Detail". The plan is to paint the various places I've been with written story details of each hopefully sharing some of those experiences. Eventually, one of those big coffee table books with 'maps' of each compiled place and a legend pairing the pictures with their respective written [=Ahh!] stories.
Prints are where it's at, remember? I'm really gonna have to get on my writing but luckily I know an editor or two. That in itself is a big project, another reason patron/matrons are appreciated. Eventually these painted 'story maps' will span meaningful experiences from Oregon, Idaho, India, Nepal, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, France, Morocco, Germany, Switzerland, and England.
aka Around the world!
Hopefully with your help I will have more time to paint and get this together!
What am I going to do with the money?
WHY, Support a living artists, of corse!
*Buy supplies; paint, brushes, canvases, oil, soap, food, etc, as needed.
*Print things; Prints for YOU![matrons&patrons]!! For general sale, reproductions and shows. *2/2020 Business Class making Prints look like the best model! If I can get pressure off of paintings they stay more fun anyway ^^
*Perhaps a venue for the show when I get the maps done and all the printed things for it [Printed things right now include prints of all the paintings, their storied histories]
*Rent a studio! Let's be honest, it's not so much the place to paint I need, but the place to keep all the canvases, having running water is a beautiful luxury I enjoy affording and likewise very handy, bathrooms.
*Health insurance for me and the dog would be cool.
With your help I hope to create and sell prints that allow me to further my art, my development, and my positive impact in the realms of wild land preservation.
Prints will be available for sale and as tier rewards.
I hope originals find happy homes too, as any good mother does.
