Greetings!

My name is Trevor Ruhl, wood artist and founder of Up Wood Working. I invoke the aesthetic of the past through the use and study of ephemera, wood block prints and traditional imagery. Nearly all my work is carved in reclaimed wood and my mission is to reclaim a personal spiritual path and this imagery which could be so easily lost if we don't keep returning to it. I have been working full time as an artist for 5 years in Portland Oregon. My influences vary quite a bit, in addition to what was already mentioned, street art, vintage signage, print art, and my own personal studies with Celtic/Norse/Greek/Buddhist imagery, as well as contemporary Pop-Culture.

I travel up and down the Pacific North West showing my work at festivals, street fairs, and galleries, as well as selling on Etsy. Coming from a manufacturing background, my work explores the lines of mass production and unique handmade art. My goal is to make art accessible both financially and conceptually, When I was young I wanted art so badly but could not afford it, I want to break that narrative of scarcity.
