Zae Tinaza is an experimental and avant-garde composer, improviser, sound instillation artist, classically trained singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, educator, and writer with over 40 years of experience and practice and 23 years of extensive study with some of the worlds most renowned musicians and educators such as: Bert Wilson, Mark Levine, Mel Martin, Dr. Francis Feldon, G.S. Sachdev, and Maestro David Kyle to name a few and at American River College, Pacific Lutheran University, and Dominican University.  Being an extremely versatile as well as masterful musician Zae has performed everything from classical music, opera, folk, avant-garde and straight ahead jazz, blues, soul and funk, progressive rock as well as metal, throughout his lengthy career; and alway brings a lot of energy and passion to what ever he is doing.  Zae has performed in small clubs, concert halls, theaters, as well as huge auditoriums such as the Crest Theater and the Marin Civic Center and has recorded, shared the stage, and participated in sessions with such varied artists as: Gail Muldrow from from Sly and the Family Stone and Graham Central Station, Sam Andrews from Big Brother and the Holding Co., Elvin Bishop, Phillip Wayne Greenlief, Alan Hertz from Garaj Mahal and Scott Henderson, Terry Haggerty from the Sons of Champlin, Ansley Dunbar from Frank Zappa, Tony Passarell, Alan Cook, Ariel Calabria, Steve Luceno, Ryan Donnely, Cooper Schlegel, and Mike Varney to name a few. In 1996 Zae was a recipient of the Mayflower Choral Society scholarship award for exhibiting exceptional talent.  Zae was involved with the Marin Opera from 1996-1998.  Zae's music is multidisciplinary, and he regularly combines so called disparate elements into his music reaching back to antiquity and looking to the Native American as well as the Asiatic and middle eastern cultures for musical inspiration and source material.  Zae has also been working with a 56 note scale and has been using a just intonated ten string microtonal guitar in his work.  With a deep interest in the spiritual value of music Zae has  spent a handful of years studying sound healing and has attended workshops at Dominican University and the Global Institute in San Francisco. Zae says "music is much more than just entertainment, it is an ancient healing art and when created with pure intention it is powerful medicine and it's vibrations can penetrate deep into the cellular structures of life and even repair DNA. Everything in life is made up of vibrations, and, in fact, on the deepest level we are all energy beings made of frequency waves of infinite potential."
