With the referendum coming up on the 25th May, BANBHA Theatre Company are bringing The WIN on tour, taking in Portlaoise, Galway, Cork and Limerick, before returning to Dublin for a special pre-referendum gig with a number of guest performers (to be announced soon)!

We are doing this work voluntarily to do our bit for the campaign to repeal the Eighth Amendment. However, we do like to eat. The money you donate to this patreon will go towards food and other basic necessities for the cast while on tour. Any additional funds will be added to the fundraising pot from our ticket sales.

We are very grateful for any donations, no matter how big or small!

Lots of love,

Nearly 30 years ago, when the 8th Amendment led the courts to rule that abortion information was illegal, Irishwomen had a lifeline: a secret phone number scrawled on toilet walls and chanted defiantly at demonstrations. It connected them to the Women’s Information Network (WIN), and the knowledge they so desperately needed. The WIN is a devised piece by emerging theatre company, BANBHA. The directors, composer and cast are using original documents from the Women's Information Network, as well as testimonies from the women involved, to create a piece of theatre exploring the hidden history of abortion in Ireland.

The WIN, while pertinent to the current debate about the issue, also smashes through the wall of silence that has stood for three decades about these women’s revolutionary work.

Directed by Cara Brophy-Browne & Tara Louise Morrison
Devised by Nitai Aleksiewicz, Cara Brophy-Browne, Susie Birmingham, Orla Devlin, Clíodhna Kelly, Kelly Kierans, Tara Louise Morrison, Laoise Murray, Jennifer Aust, Johanna O'Brien and Siobhan Clancy.
Original music and sound design by Susie Birmingham
Produced by Saoirse Anton
Set design by Áine O’Hara
Lighting design by Sophie Cassidy
General crew: Tim Leech Cleary

“The WIN is a testament, not only to the talent of young Irish people, but to their concern about themselves, their fellow women, and their country.” - The City
