Let me introduce myself.

My name is Art Therapy and I am a fictional character. When money permits, my creator will make me a legal entity in my own right, through the establishment of a Private Limited Company.
Many things about me will be fictional, but there will be many things about me that are autobiographical from the life of my creator.

There are many reasons for this, but some are to protect the guilty and to also protect his identity. There are things that you read that can’t possibly think are true but are – and then there are things that aren’t true just to keep you guessing and keep my creators anonymity.

Why have I been created?

There are a myriad of reasons, but first and foremost I am not an artist. I am to be a baseline of creativity to encourage those who are to create; my aim is to provide a resource for those who wish to learn, who wish to improve and ultimately to provide a means for those who have the talent to break out and become known – to make their own creations and fandoms, to provide an escape and, hopefully, an income so that those who can will be able to break free of the benefits trap and make their own incomes and become free to be who they want to be.

An example of what I mean by this is through the creation of cartoon panels. The aim is to show that even with my limited ability to draw, others should not prevent themselves from doing likewise – allowing those who wish to explore to do so and to provide an impetus for those who can do better to encourage others.

These things take time and effort. I am a vehicle of escape for my creator to be free to experiment with various things and when the time is right not only will I be legally real, but there will be charities set up to fulfil these ambitions.

Art takes many forms and isn’t limited to any one medium. It is my intention that we will grow to include as many different media for the expression of art as possible, so as best to serve as many people as possible.

Today is Day One.
There is little to see when something or someone starts, and I know that to gain a following or interest there has to be something for people to see. This is a call to action, not only for those willing to support this venture, but also for my creator to draw a line in the sand and say ‘I have begun’.

I am part of a group for people who suffer from anxiety and depressive disorders, allowing them to meet and socialise in a controlled setting so they can overcome isolation and improve their mental health. This group is looking to expand what it can do for the wider community to improve prospects for socialising and prevent loneliness. This group uses the medium of games to break down barriers:

  • 1) Allows social opportunities in a controlled setting.
  • 2) Provides a shared experience in playing games against each other (card / board / videogames).
  • 3) Provides topics of conversation through privately played games (ie Console games).
  • 4) Provides opportunities for people to achieve private conversations through electronic media.
I, Art, seek to provide similar services which don’t recreate what has already been achieved, but to allow art to dominate within this kind of setup. Examples of these include, but are not limited to:

  • 1) A vehicle for those to begin with drawings of licensed Intellectual Property for education and therapeutic reasons, through Cartoons, Strips, Fandom art / writing and similar methods of creation.
  • 2) Provide a shared experience for those wishing to share their art with a like-minded and non-judgemental community.
  • 3) Encouragement and support for those with isolating disorders and provide objective pillars to build self-esteem.
  • 4) To cover all avenues of self-expressions of art which can be consumed by interesting parties and provide avenues for personal and professional growth.
  • 5) To provide artistic materials, where able, for those unable to afford such supplies.
$0 of $200 per month
The creation of a series of works developed and created by the artists in the group into a small booklet similar to an A5-size comic. This collaborative work will be to highlight and promote the various artists.
