Sierra Dawn Lee is a small town girl, born and raised in Texas with heart for music. She always loved singing and was known for busting out into song as early as she could talk. By the age of 11, Sierra Lee was given an electric guitar and fell in love. She went hard after guitar for 2 years, however; it slowly dissipated as sports took its place. In Jr High Sierra’s art teacher mentioned the school musical to her and for the first time she knew it was singing that would win her heart. Throughout the rest of Sierra’s school experience, music became the biggest influence in her life. At 16 years old, Sierra Lee became the worship leader of her high school student body and continued to do so until she graduated.
In May of 2012 Sierra Lee tried out for American Idol and made it through the first few rounds but chose not to continue after being led to move to Honduras.
Sierra moved to Honduras as a caretaker in an Orphanage and also co lead worship there in both English and Spanish. While in Zambrano, Honduras she was apart of a few talent shows and concerts as well. – “Those were some of the most incredible experiences in my life. Singing in front of hundreds of people screaming ‘more, again, encore’ I’ve never felt a feeling like that.” SDL
At 19 years old Sierra Lee came home to Texas and went to Christ For the Nations, where she met her husband and guitarist, Ryan Lee. Once the first song was written it only became easier and easier to write the next one. Married one year later, Sierra and Ryan moved to Idaho where they found their band.
Sierra Lee’s love for country music runs through her blood. Her writing style is greatly influenced by Carrie Underwood with a few fun aspects of Taylor Swift. She has always loved the story telling that country music has as well as the ability to keep a Christian premiss within a song. -“You will never reach the stars if you don’t aim beyond the skies.” SDL
