What is Daily Dredd?

It's pretty much what it says on the tin! I'm reading one prog of Judge Dredd from the pages of 2000AD (and eventually the Judge Dredd Megazine if I get that far!), then writing a fairly analytical look at that issue.

You know there are over 2000 progs right? Why on Earth are you doing this!

A fair question! I first started reading Dredd with the partwork Mega Collection which started being released here in Australia in 2015. I’ve been getting them each fortnight since they came out, primarily on the strength of the first few releases which I really enjoyed.

The collection is great – but at heart I like to experience things in order. Particularly long-running things (hello Doctor Who)! I received the 10th Anniversary of the first of the Judge Dredd Case Files for my birthday in 2016, which planted the idea of reading them one at a time and experiencing the slow evolution of this nearly 40-year old saga.

I like writing, but mostly do it around my chosen profession (early childhood education). I was looking for a project that would test my writing skills, on something other than my day job. I also enjoy guides and companions to series, which I can read along to while watching or reading. I couldn't really find one for Dredd - so thought I may has well have a crack myself!

So here we are!

Why this Patreon page?

The blog is great fun - and to be very clear, I'll still be doing it even without any Patreon support. What your support can do is just give me a bit more time to do it - writing a daily blog post in the midst of work and a family life with two young kids is not always easy! There's also some of the basic costs of purchasing the Case Files.

What do I get in return for my support?

Another very fair question! As you'll see from my Goals, I'd love to expand out the posts to include some of the spin-off material, particularly Judge Anderson. So basically the more support, the more I can do.

This is a small project, and I'm grateful for your support - even if you're just reading along!

Borag Thungg, Earthlets!
