About Lauren Black
Hi guys!I can't thank you enough for visiting this page and supporting me on my musical journey. I have been working hard to create new original music and I am so excited to start assembling the team that is going to help me take this project to the next level! I know you must be thinking how absurd my monthly financial goals are, but to be a competitive working artist in this industry without signing your life away to a major label, this is only a small fraction of what it is really going to take for us to stand any chance. Just to give you an idea... Radio promotion alone could cost upwards of a half million dollars to promote 1 single. Unfortunately, money runs the game. I have already reached my goal of being a full time working musician and I am so blessed to be doing what I love every day. That for me is the definition of success. It would, however, be so cool to share my music on a larger platform, and who knows... with your help I might just be able to take home a Grammy for us all one of these days! I have gone as far as I can on my own, and I would be so grateful for your support in helping this goal become a reality.
Who Am IMy name is Lauren Black. I'm a 22 year old singer/songwriter from Phoenix, AZ. I fell in love with music at a very early age. My first solo was at the age of three at church. There's a video somewhere showing me in all my shy, lispy glory. It's pretty cute.
At 13 I locked myself in my bedroom for a weekend and learned to play the guitar. I wanted to play concerts and gigs and I knew I would have to accompany myself in some way. I had my brother's old guitar lying around so it seemed like a perfect fit! Songwriting came to me at about the same time. I found myself having so much to say and not being able to express it, so I figured I would try in a song. The first song I wrote was called "Falling" (cliche, I know) and from that moment I was hooked. I would write in all my school notebooks instead of doing my homework and stay up late into the night stringing words and melodies together.
Around the same time, I became a member of an organization called Chicks with Picks. Two amazing women ran it (and still do to this day) and focused their attention and energies into getting gigs for female performers and educating the next generation of musicians. It was a great intro into the music business and they opened my eyes to so many opportunities and realities of this crazy industry. Most importantly, it made the idea of writing and performing for a living a real possibility.
My songwriting and stage presence grew throughout high school. I was fortunate enough to find a handful of local bars and cafes that would let a 16 year old sing her songs all night. In 2010 I entered my song "Dancing on the Moon" into Alice Cooper's annual Proof is in the Pudding contest. Every year he holds a Christmas concert and all the proceeds go to charity. He has an impressive line up including Hall of Fame rock stars like himself, comedians, dancers, and up and comers. Previous winners of his contest had been well established and much older so I was sure I didn't have a chance. But then a crazy thing happened. I got to play my song live at the final rounds of the contest and I won! Alice Cooper himself voted for me! I then performed at his charity concert for 5,000 plus and got to play the song I had written daydreaming about the first date I still wasn't allowed to have. To say it was a dream come true is an understatement.
Winning that contest really set things in motion for me. It made me believe in myself and inspired me to give this crazy dream of mine everything I have. After high school I decided to give this thing a real try and to pursue music full time. I moved in with my sister in Southern California and starting passing my demo around to every live music venue in town. It didn't take long for my passion to become a full time gig. I was and am so grateful for all the venues that let me play my music and support myself and my dream by doing something I love. A few of my current venues include La Casa Del Camino, Skyloft, and Monarch Beach Resort, just to name a few.
At 19 I was introduced to the boutique artist development agency, DNT Entertainment . The owner, Dani Thompson, and I clicked right away and she signed me to a management deal. She understood my dream and since then we have dedicated all of our time and resources into getting my music into your hands, while still remaining independent.
Last summer I had the opportunity to record a 5 song EP with Royal Fire Music Group. If you don't know of Kyle Wesley and David Batt, you will soon. They are excellent producers, musicians and engineers and they really brought my songs to life. My EP, titled "One More Time With Feeling" was released last fall and the feedback has been amazing! It's the only professional original content I've released and I am so proud of it. I can only hope for the opportunity to create and release more!
The release of my debut EP has made me more eager than ever to consistently release my original songs as well as cover songs and I am so excited for you to join me on this journey!!

Hi guys! So excited to start on this journey with you. I decided to make a Patreon account because its been tough to personally finance all of my dreams and aspirations. I feel so lucky to have been able to independently fund my career thus far, but now its time to include you! With this money I plan to record my debut album, launch a radio tour, and independently bring my music to a large platform. I have an incredible team behind me and we have the ability to do everything a label would do and work on the same level, while still keeping 100% of the creative control.
