About Jeffrey Erkelens

On my 55th birthday:

  • I realized I no longer enjoyed, nor believed in the story I was in, so decided to write my own.
  • I left my job, and walked away from a promise of a generous lifetime pension in exchange for my freedom.
  • I surrendered my possessions to rid myself of distractions.
  • I embarked on a creative journey.

Why?

Because I share Dianne Ackerman’s sentiment that: “The great affair, the love affair with life, is to live it as variously as possible, to groom one’s curiosity like a high-spirited thoroughbred, climb aboard, and gallop.”

And William Blake’s: “He who desires but acts not breeds pestilence.”

Unencumbered, with a glimpse of immaculate sand awaiting my footprints, I now journey on the edge of uncertainty doing exactly what I feel I was meant to do all my life: to write and share with you the treasures I discover.

I walk with gratitude for those that have brought me to this point, and to you, fellow traveler, who I now invite to journey with me.

Goals
19 of 200 patrons
Reaching 200 crewmembers will allow me to work full time at creating thoughtful content and complete my four-volume memoir: The Four Saros, two of which are complete and on the desks of close to 200 literary agents.

In the meantime, I am currently working on a book for boys to guide them on the path to authentic, generative manhood.

Your support will also help cover the web-hosting costs, the occasional meal and cup of coffee, and - most importantly - will keep me from fracking, stripping mountainsides for coal (clean or not), or other such deleterious occupations.

With unbounded gratitude.
