An ideal weight increases the odds of having an ideal life!


 This site is about obesity except let’s not use that term. I prefer the phrase “unhealthy weight” as that actually describes what excess weight does i.e. increases the risk for illnesses.


Treating unhealthy weight in people is something I enjoy for two reasons:

1. By decreasing unhealthy weight, it lowers the chances a person will develop coronary artery disease, diabetes, stroke, hypertension, and many other diseases. This, in turn, usually results in lesser doses of medications or complete freedom from them.
2. The wonderful look on patients’ faces when they come in for their weekly weigh-in appointments knowing they have lost weight.


Topics of early posts will be:

  • Defining unhealthy weight.
  • What is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and how is it used to produce weight loss?
  • Illnesses associated with unhealthy weight.
  • Approach to diet.
  • How important is exercise?  
  • Circadian rhythm and its impact on weight loss.
  • Obstructive Sleep Apnea and unhealthy weight.
  • Labs that are important in evaluating unhealthy weight.
  • Weight loss medications.
