About Vouk

My name is Daniel Stankewitz (also known as Vouk) and I am the main developer of the popular "Voukoder" plugin (www.voukoder.org) for Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects and Magix Vegas.

Before the Voukoder I had to use a combination of a frame server and a set of various tools to get a high quality video export out of Adobe Premiere. That was rather slow and did not support native batch exporting with Media Encoder.

Instead of just complaining I wanted to make it better! I am working as Senior Software Engineer for quite some time now and in 2017 I gave it a try. Now in november 2019 there are more than 47,000 downloads and more than 11,300 users! Amazing!

With Voukoder you can use the best available video and audio encoders. You can use GPU acceleration for both NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards. It is possible to run multiple exports with Media Encoder. You can export in 4:2:0, 4:2:2 and 4:4:4! You want 8 bit, 10 bit or even 12 bit? No problem!

And the best is: It is completely free for you and entirely open source on GitHub!

But Voukoder is not finished yet, and it will never be. Lots of encoders are waiting to be included in the plugin. Video and audio filters want to added and what about subtitle support? There is much more to come and it will be possible - with your support!

  • My first goal is to reach some kind of a break even. Currently I have lots downloads but I only get very few donations. I appreciate every single donation but unfortunately this is not enough to pay the rented server nor my Adobe CC subscription plan (I am using it only to develop the plugin).
  • My second goal is to be able to fully test every bug report and every new feature requests. At the moment this is not possible (i.e. I don't even have a single AMD GPU). It would be best to have various testing machines and models of GPUs from each brand as they have different encoding capabilities.
  • My third goal is to support many more NLEs! Why should only Premiere get the advantages of this great plugin?
  • And the ultimate goal would be have enough money so I could quit my regular job and develop more plugins for you. I have some nice ideas already ... :)

Goals
$109 of $500 per month
This goal would help to buy test equipment like graphic cards to develop and bugfix both AMD and NVIDIA  features.
