About Marissa Dufault
I've always been a creative sort, my background is actually in theater. Among the many hats I wore in my years in theater, my favorite was costume designer. Not only do I love the idea of costumes (seriously, I'll wear a costume any chance I get), I love making them as well. Making costumes led me to making other things, and that's kind of how I started with the bloomers.
My specific aesthetic was inspired by my love of all things vintage. Growing up, I spent a lot of time working with my antique-selling mother. She focused a lot on household items from the 40's, 50's, and 60's, and that included a lot of vintage linens. Frequently, we'd come across a sheet set or tablecloth with small tear or stain that would render it un-sellable. It seemed such a shame for all that wonderful character to go to waste, and finally it occurred to me to start cutting them up and making other things out of them! I started with bloomers, and moved on to skirts, and even the occasional nightgown and beach cover up.
So that's where I am. Where do you come in? Well, like I said, this is just my part time gig. As such, I work from home with pretty modest equipment and accommodations. By supporting me, you'll be helping me develop and grow my brand, which will help me upgrade a lot of my equipment, leading to better quality and faster output, which will help me develop and grow my brand even more!
