I started writing in 2005 with a performance poetry organisation called Leeds Young Authors (LYA). With the organisation, I represented the UK in New York at the Brave New Voices International Poetry Competition in 2006. Between 2005- 2010, I performed nationally, at venues and events including: Southbank Centre, British Library, Venezuelan Embassy, Ilkley Literature Festival and Bridlington Literature Festival.

In 2010, I started writing for theatre. Since I've written plays for : West Yorkshire Playhouse, Manchester Royal Exchange, Young Vic, Oron Mor, Upstart Theatre and BBC Radio 3. My plays have toured the UK, USA, Germany, Greece, South Africa and Zimbabwe

I've been shortlisted for the international Susan Smith Blackburn Playwriting Prize (2014-2015). I won the Channel 4 Playwright’s Scheme in 2014 and was made Writer-in-Residence at the West Yorkshire Playhouse. I've previously been Apprentice Poet-in-Residence at Ilkely Literature Festival (2013), Leeds Kirkgate Market (2012) and Writer-in-Residence at I Love West Leeds Festival (2010).

I lead writing workshops for diverse communities and people both nationally and internationally. I am currently an Associate Tutor at the University of Warwick, teaching Writing Out Loud : Slam, Spoken Word, and Performance Poetics.

I've contributed to poetry anthologies and academic arts journals. My plays are published by Bloomsbury.
